Furse, 51, guided Europe's biggest exchange to a healthy 15% revenue gain, to $699 million, in 2007. But the collapse of Lehman Brothers last month is a big upset for Furse, who had planned to partner with the U.S. bank to create an off-exchange trading platform that would allow rival institutional investors to trade anonymously. Furse is forging ahead with the plan and expects the platform to start operating in the first quarter of 2009.
